High-Level Panel: Rivers

Tuesday, 22 August, 9.30-11.00 hrs (Hall E)

Following the last IAHR Congress held in 2021 in Granada, Spain under the theme “From Snow to Sea”, the main theme of the 40th IAHR World Congress will be “Rivers – Connecting Mountains and Coasts” focusing attention on the importance of considering the integral water cycle to address present and future challenges.

The main congress theme, “Rivers Connecting Mountains and Coasts,” explores the importance of rivers and their crucial role in shaping ecosystems and human livelihoods.

The high-level panel on “Rivers” serves as a platform that unites diverse stakeholders, including management experts, academics, and non-governmental organizations. With a focus on interdisciplinary discussions, the panel aims to foster the exchange of innovative ideas and promote sustainable management practices related to rivers. By bringing together these different perspectives, the panel seeks to address the complex challenges associated with river ecosystems and facilitate the development of effective strategies.
